SKATERS are heading to L.A. to play a very special show at The Satellite this Wednesday, March 19th. The NYC-based downtown band (namely, Mic, NoNo B, J. Hub, and Dano) have just released their debut album Manhattan and celebrated at the Bowery Ballroom.
I’ve been hearing a lot about this band and finally checked out their music. I like the rhythm guitars and strong drums, reminiscent of the Strokes. The songs are catchy but not pop-ish. The boys put on a solid NYC punk show. This is a really exciting time for the band because it’s their first US headlining tour post-release. They’ve just returned from a sold-out UK tour and have been given high honors by the likes of KCRW. Check out their video for “Miss Teen Massachusetts” and the just-released “Nice Hat”
The group played at SXSW and is heading for L.A..
